iLASIK - individualized Advanced CustomVue Bladeless LASIK
How does Blade-Free LASIK work?
Before the introduction of blade-free LASIK, a microkeratome was used to create the corneal flap. Most complications from LASIK surgery occur as a result of a poorly created flap. The femtosecond laser is able to create a flap below the surface of the cornea without having to make a cut. Extremely fast pulses of laser light are able to create uniform microscopic bubbles just beneath the corneal surface. The femtosecond laser then stacks the bubbles around your corneal diameter to create the edges of the flap. Dr. Bucci lifts the flap so that the excimer laser can remove the corneal tissue required to correct your vision. The LASIK flap is then put back in place and positioned so the healing process can begin.

The introduction of the iLASIK Procedure means the wait for better vision is over.
- The iLASIK Procedure has been used to treat more eyes than any other laser vision treatment available today
- No other procedure measures up to the iLASIK Procedure, combining the world’s most advanced vision correction advancements into one safe and effective procedure
- The iLASIK Procedure goes beyond other procedures that you may have heard of to truly personalizeyour vision correction based on your precise, individual vision needs
Technical Excellence At Every Step
The iLASIK Procedure combines two advanced lasers with a 3-D mapping process in one integrated, bladefree procedure. To begin with, 3-D mapping captures your personalized refractive signature which, like a
fingerprint, is unique to each of your eyes and provides the customized correction needed to personalize your
iLASIK treatment. Next, a very thin, precise flap of corneal tissue is created. This flap is folded back, and your
personalized iLASIK Procedure is performed.
The Exceptional Results You’re Looking For
- Only the iLASIK Procedure has earned FDA approval to treat the broadest range of vision imperfections possible, including mild to severe nearsightedness, farsightedness and all types of astigmatism
- The technology behind the iLASIK Procedure helps physicians take more of their patients beyond 20/20 vision
- Only the iLASIK Procedure combines the technology that persuaded NASA to allow laser vision correction for their astronauts

Learn MoreWhat Are Cataracts?

A cataract is a clouding of the normally clear crystalline lens of the eye. The lens is normally extremely clear, and allows light to pass through and be focused onto the retina. When the lens is not clear, and light is impeded from passing through it, a cataract is said to be present in the lens. The term “cataract” comes from the Latin word for waterfall (cataracta) as very advanced cataracts may look white, like foamy water, and be visible to an observer with the naked eye.
Learn MoreCataract Surgery

Modern microsurgical techniques for removing cataracts have evolved and improved dramatically over the past 20 years. During this procedure, the eye's natural lens is removed because it became cloudy as a result of the natural aging process. In the early days, cataract surgery was performed only when a person could no longer see. The cloudy lens was removed in one piece through a large incision that required many stitches. Patients stayed in the hospital for days and after surgery had to wear thick, distorting cataract glasses or deal with cumbersome contact lenses to see well enough to function.
Learn MoreMultifocal / Accommodative

Exciting advances in lens implant technology now allows patients to choose multifocal lens implants to correct their vision. Monofocal lens implants provide excellent vision at one point, usually distance. Multifocal lens implants provide a range of clearer vision at near, intermediate and distance, thereby allowing the performance of most daily activities with little or no dependence on traditional or progressive bifocals. Dr. Bucci will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of multifocal lenses during your free consultation.
