TESTIMONIAL
Freedom is what Dr. Bucci gave me. Like most people over 40, I couldn't read with out glasses, I had a pair of reading glasses in every room of our home. Multi-Lx Elite™ changed that. The pain free procedure is like a miracle. As a result of my success with Dr. Bucci, my husband, who had cataracts, also had the Multi-Lx Elite™ procedure.
Paula Koscelnick – Mountain Top, Pa.
Dr. Frank Bucci is an internationally recognized expert in LASIK, Multi-Lx Elite™ and cataract surgery. He has received more than 100 invitations as an invited speaker at major international ophthalmology meetings, published over 80 trade journal articles and contributed 75 research publications in peer-reviewed medical literature.
His most significant contribution for freeing patients from a lifetime of bifocals occurred with his landmark presentation on Dec. 2, 2005 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas. At this meeting, the Las Vegas IOL Symposium, Dr.Bucci was the first ophthalmic researcher in North America and Europe to demonstrate that mixing and matching the two new multifocal implants achieved the highest levels of spectacle independence, patient satisfaction, and high quality uncorrected vision. Since presenting this landmark paper, Dr.Bucci has been invited to share these results at major ophthalmic conferences in San Francisco, Philadelphia, Montreal, New York City, Fort Lauderdale, London and Rome.
Dr. Bucci identified complementary and synergistic characteristics of the two leading multifocal implants and showed that patients achieved excellent distance, intermediate and near vision under a multitude of circumstances. The combination resulted in excellent reading in both bright and dim light and excellent distance vision both during the day in bright light and with oncoming headlights in the evening. It results in excellent intermediate vision and freedom from spectacles during intermediate tasks, such as, using the computer. Dr. Bucci's patients are achieving spectacle independence at a rate of 99 percent when taking his recommendations with regard to appropriate choices for multifocal lenses.
These multifocal lenses are implanted during a procedure called Multi-Lx Elite™. Both cataract and pre-cataract patients older than 40 years of age who are dependent on bifocals or reading glasses are likely candidates for this groundbreaking combination of multifocal lenses. Bifocal patients who have these lenses implanted prior to developing cataracts will never need cataract surgery in the future. Dr. Bucci has implanted nearly 1,500 multifocal intraocular lenses in his career. Most recently, more than 100 patients received the combination lenses and achieved the greatest degree of spectacle freedom. Many of the patients are thrilled to share their experiences with those considering these life-enhancing surgeries. No needles, no stitches and no patches are required during this painless microsurgical procedure. Full activity without restrictions is permitted in less than one day.
Dr. Bucci offers free consultations for patients considering the Multi-Lx Elite™ and LASIK procedures. He councels them personally one-on-one prior to surgery, and offers one year of free postop care to demonstrate his commitment to their vision.
Surgeries for implanting these new multifocal implants are performed on both cataract and Multi-Lx Elite™ patients in Dr. Bucci's state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center, the Angelina Theresa Bucci Eye Surgery Center, which was established in 2000 and offers upscale service with the latest technology and highly skilled ancillary staff. Free consultations for prospective Multi-Lx Elite™, LASIK, and cataract patients can be performed at Bucci Laser Vision in Wilkes-Barre or at one of seven satellite offices in Hazleton, Pittston, Old Forge, Scranton, Mt. Pocono and Stroudsburg, and Brodheadsville.
In addition to providing the latest technological advances with regard to multifocal lens technology and implantation techniques, Dr. Bucci offers patients a private LASIK suite in Wilkes-Barre which houses the latest state-of-the-art Intralase LASIK technology. This includes the only freestanding excimer laser in Luzerne County featuring the WaveScan and CustomVue laser vision applications from VISX. Blade-Free CustomVue LASIK provided by Bucci Laser Vision includes individualized laser treatments which are as unique as each patient's fingerprint. This space-age technology identifies delicate imperfections in the eye and collects 1,000 data points which allows the individualized laser treatment to frequently achieve vision better than what the patient experienced with their glasses or contacts prior to their Custom LASIK.
Custom LASIK at Bucci Laser Vision, performed exclusively by Dr. Bucci, takes approximately five and one-half minutes and is completely painless. He often tells patients that at 9 p.m. on the same night of surgery, they will be able to read the news ticker on CNN when standing more than 10 feet away from the TV. More than 99 percent of Dr.Bucci's Custom LASIK and Multi-Lx Elite™ patients choose not to wear distance glasses following these delicate microsurgical painless procedures. Dr. Bucci's diverse experience with LASIK, MultiLx Elite™ and cataract procedures are unparalleled in Northeast PA. He is approaching 25,000 microsurgical eye procedures, including 15,000 lens implant surgeries and 8,000 refractive surgeries. Learn MoreWhat Are Cataracts?

A cataract is a clouding of the normally clear crystalline lens of the eye. The lens is normally extremely clear, and allows light to pass through and be focused onto the retina. When the lens is not clear, and light is impeded from passing through it, a cataract is said to be present in the lens. The term “cataract” comes from the Latin word for waterfall (cataracta) as very advanced cataracts may look white, like foamy water, and be visible to an observer with the naked eye.
Learn MoreCataract Surgery

Modern microsurgical techniques for removing cataracts have evolved and improved dramatically over the past 20 years. During this procedure, the eye's natural lens is removed because it became cloudy as a result of the natural aging process. In the early days, cataract surgery was performed only when a person could no longer see. The cloudy lens was removed in one piece through a large incision that required many stitches. Patients stayed in the hospital for days and after surgery had to wear thick, distorting cataract glasses or deal with cumbersome contact lenses to see well enough to function.
Learn MoreMultifocal / Accommodative

Exciting advances in lens implant technology now allows patients to choose multifocal lens implants to correct their vision. Monofocal lens implants provide excellent vision at one point, usually distance. Multifocal lens implants provide a range of clearer vision at near, intermediate and distance, thereby allowing the performance of most daily activities with little or no dependence on traditional or progressive bifocals. Dr. Bucci will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of multifocal lenses during your free consultation.
